WIP Managed · Monthly contract

# Ongoing engineering for the systems that run your business

WIP Managed is for business systems that need ongoing technical oversight. It includes what WIP Care offers, according to the contracted scope, and adds periodic performance and cost reviews, deployment and change management, technical meetings, and improvement planning, without you having to build your own team.

starting at US$ 470 per month

## How do managed operations work day to day?

In managed operations, WIP looks after your systems continuously: it monitors them, responds to alerts, carries out changes in production, reviews performance and costs periodically, and plans improvements with you. It’s the work of an engineering and operations department, with the scope and hours set in the contract.

The routine combines three rhythms:

- **Continuous:** monitoring, alerts, and incident response within the contracted hours, plus backup checks.
- **With every change:** logging, testing, release, and a rollback path for every change in production, whether it’s a new version of the application or an infrastructure adjustment.
- **Periodic:** performance and cost reviews, technical meetings, and updates to the improvement plan.

Technical meetings exist to make decisions, not to read status reports. In them, we review what has happened since the last conversation, present risks and opportunities, and decide with you what goes into the next cycle.

If the company has a development team, in-house or outsourced, WIP works alongside it: the team keeps building, and WIP takes care of getting releases into production safely and keeping the environment healthy. If it doesn’t, WIP can be the technical point of contact with software and service vendors, depending on the scope.

## How does change management protect the system?

Change management protects the system because no change reaches production without being logged, tested, and given a way back. Every change in production is a chance for something to break; controlling changes reduces that risk without holding back progress.

In WIP Managed, every change follows the same path:

1. **Log:** what changes, why, who requested it, and what the risk is.
2. **Test:** in a separate environment, before it reaches users.
3. **Window:** higher-risk changes are agreed on in advance and, when needed, made during low-traffic hours.
4. **Release:** through the automated deployment process, with no improvised manual steps.
5. **Verification:** after the release, the key metrics are checked to confirm that nothing got worse.
6. **Rollback, if needed:** along the path defined in the log.

As it builds up, the change log has another benefit: when something goes wrong, the first question is “What changed?” and the answer is already written down. That shortens the investigation and keeps the same problematic change from being repeated.

Urgent changes, such as a security fix, follow a shorter path, but they’re still logged and can still be rolled back.

## When is it worth moving from WIP Care to WIP Managed?

It’s worth moving when the system is no longer just something that has to stay online and becomes something that has to evolve safely. WIP Care keeps the environment healthy; WIP Managed adds planning, periodic reviews, and change management.

Signs that WIP Managed is a better fit:

- the system changes often, and every deployment is a cause for worry;
- the infrastructure bill is already significant and needs periodic review;
- more than one system, environment, or vendor is involved;
- the business needs someone to plan technical improvements, not just react to problems;
- the company wants regular technical meetings to set priorities with people who know the environment.

The reverse path also exists. If the system has stabilized and rarely changes, [WIP Care](https://workinprogress.company/services/maintenance-and-monitoring) may be enough, and that will be the recommendation.

For systems where downtime or data loss has serious consequences, with recovery targets in the contract and incident response over extended hours, the right path is [WIP Mission Critical](https://workinprogress.company/services/mission-critical).

## What does WIP Managed deliver?

- Everything in WIP Care, according to the contracted scope.
- Periodic performance and cost reviews, with prioritized recommendations.
- Deployment and change management, with a change log and a rollback path.
- Technical meetings and improvement planning.

## Who is WIP Managed for?

- Businesses whose systems support sales, customer service, or operations.
- Businesses without a full technical team that need ongoing oversight.
- Software agencies that prefer to outsource the operation of the systems they deliver to clients.

## What is not included in WIP Managed?

- 24/7 support, which is only available in WIP Mission Critical, when it's contracted and the operational structure can sustain it.
- Support for office computers, printers, and users (help desk).
- Large modernization or scale-readiness projects, which are contracted separately.
- Costs of infrastructure, licenses, and third-party services.

## How much does WIP Managed cost?

WIP Managed starts at US$ 470 per month. This is a reference monthly price: it varies with the systems, environments, included hours, and support hours set in the contract. Infrastructure, licenses, and third-party services are paid for separately.

## Frequently asked questions about WIP Managed

### How much do managed operations for a system cost?

WIP Managed has a reference price starting at US$ 470 per month. The final price depends on the number of systems, environments, included hours, and support hours set in the contract. Infrastructure, licenses, and third-party services are listed separately from WIP's fees.

### Does WIP Managed replace an in-house IT team?

It can cover the engineering and operation of your systems, but it doesn't include support for office computers, printers, and users. If the company already has a technical team, WIP works alongside it.

### How are changes made in production?

Every change is logged, tested before it reaches production, and has a rollback path. Higher-risk changes are agreed on in advance and, when necessary, made during a maintenance window.

### How often do the reviews and technical meetings happen?

The frequency is set in the contract, based on the size and criticality of the systems. Performance and cost reviews produce prioritized recommendations, and the technical meetings are for deciding what goes into the plan.
